Programs, Classes and Conferences
As a healthcare leader in the areas of cardiovascular care, stroke care and diabetes education, Athens Regional embraces opportunities to educate physicians, staff and patients.
The hospital hosts classes and screenings on a regular basis, and conferences and events devoted to heart health, education and fundraising are part of our focus.
Athens Regional exemplifies its commitment to its 17-county service area by organizing and hosting three annual educational conferences - the Physicians Conference for Cardiac and Vascular Care, the Stroke Conference and Defeat Diabetes Day.
Cardiac Vascular Care Conference
The annual Cardiac Vascular Care Conference: Cardiac and Vascular Care for the Primary Care Physician educates referral physicians in the Southeast region on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and vascular disease.
Physicians learn to:

- Apply knowledge gained in treatment decisions for their cardiac and vascular patients.
- More aggressively recognize and treat diabetes in the CV population.
- Align their medical practice with evidence based CV care.
Athens Regional hosts an annual Stroke Conference. Topics of interest include High Blood Pressure Medications and Nursing Implications, Glycemic Control and It's Impact on the Cerebrovascular and Cardiovascular System and Polyvascular Risk Reduction in Ischemic Stroke Patients.
DeFeat Diabetes Day
DeFeat Diabetes Day is a half-day, educational and informational program designed for all people affected by Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, including family and friends. The program features area physicians and diabetes educators conducting cooking demonstrations, leading workshops, participating in panel discussions and performing health screenings.
