Pastoral care and spiritual support are often an important part of the healing experience. Athens Regional believes it is important to utilize all of one's resources in coping with the demands of cancer. The purpose of Athens Regional's Chaplain Services is to help patients and families to identify and utilize their spiritual resources to promote health and wholeness.
Chaplains at Athens Regional are available should patients desire assistance with faith or spiritual issues, grief support or ethical dilemmas in patient care and/or family support.
Patients and their families may request a chaplain or arrange to have their own minister, priest, rabbi or spiritual leader contacted. It is not necessary for a person to belong to a formal faith group to utilize the chaplain as a resource and source of support. Also, an interfaith chapel is open 24 hours a day on the hospital's first floor in the Prince Tower.
