Diagnostic X-ray is used to diagnose a variety of health issues throughout the body.
Athens Regional Medical Center uses Digital Radiography/Fluoroscopy systems to take high-resolution digital radiographs. This new digital system is much faster than conventional X-ray machines and significantly reduces the patient's radiation exposure.
X-ray studies are performed inside the hospital in the Radiology Department. Patients need to register at Radiology Registration in the Prince Tower (just off Prince Avenue).
Most X-rays do not need to be scheduled as they are done on a first-come, first-served basis, but those requiring contrast or prep work do require an appointment. All patients need a doctor's order to have X-rays taken.
