Hida Scan

A Hida Scan is done to evaluate the functioning of the gallbladder and to rule out an infection or obstruction.

If you are scheduled for a Hida Scan, you cannot eat or drink from midnight the night before your exam until you have your procedure.

If you are having a Hida scan with CCK (gallbladder stimulant), you will have an injection and then return one hour later to have your scan. You will be asked to lie on the exam table while the scanner remains stationary over your body.

This procedure lasts about one hour.
