Anticoagulant (Coumadin) Clinic

Anticoagulants such as Coumadin are drugs that help prevent the clotting (coagulation) of blood.

Because the complex dose response relationship is a challenge, Athens Regional Medical Center founded its Anticoagulation Management Service (AMS) Coumadin Clinic in 2000 to improve the safety and effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy while reducing costs associated with complications. A critical goal is to work closely with physicians to assist them with monitoring the drugs and improving outcomes.
