Piedmont Athens Regional Breast Health Center receives gift of hope from McCann Aerospace

Patricia Turner, a Parts Specialist with McCann Aerospace Machining, delivered a check for $600 to benefit Piedmont Athens Regional’s Breast Health Center. McCann employees raised the money during October. Patricia says this was important to her because her sister is a 10-year survivor of breast cancer.

Susan Irwin, Breast Health Center Nurse, says the funds will be used for women who cannot afford a screening mammogram. "With this money, we can absolutely save lives through early detection."

Natalie Hughes, a Mammographer with the Center, says, "We are finding cancer sooner, especially in women with dense breast tissue. Early detection gives better treatment options and higher rates of survival."

Natalie Hughes, Mammographer, and Susan Irwin, Breast Health Nurse, receive a donation of
$600 from Patricia Turner of McCann Aerospace.

The Breast Health Center at Piedmont Athens Regional is the only fully accredited Breast Health Center in the area with certifications as an American College of Surgeon’s National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and as an American College of Radiology’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (ACR BICOE). With a highly trained staff and state-of-the-art technology, the Breast Health Center is a leader in breast cancer services providing over 13,000 mammograms annually, many at no or low cost due to the generous support of the community.
