Athens Regional Health System

Athens Regional Cardiology Research

Why is Research Important?

Clinical research helps us create and improve the technologies, drugs, procedures, treatments, interventions and processes we use in practice every day. Behind everything we do, there's a trail of evidence supporting the reasons we do it.

Research, combined with the patient’s experience and the clinician’s expertise, guides us in evidence-based practice (EBP). EBP is something we all do. It allows us to provide the best possible care to our patients and their families. In other words, research as a foundation for EBP helps us all achieve the ARHS mission to "improve the lives and health of those we touch."
