Dysphagia Program Imaging Tests
To help our Dysphagia Program therapists evaluate swallowing difficulty, they review imaging tests from Radiology. Modified Barium Swallows (MBS) are given to adults and Oral Pharyngeal Motility Studies (OPMS)are given to children.
These tests allow therapists to look at the swallowing mechanism while patients are eating a variety of food textures and liquids to determine safe consistencies of foods and liquids. This can also help identify compensatory techniques to help the patient swallow.
