Training Walks

Training walks will begin in late July. Group training walks are a great way to get ready to go the distance. Join others for motivation and encouragement as you build up mileage before the walk. All training walks begin at the Athens Regional Foundation office on King Avenue (near the Athens Regional Medical Center Medical Services Building).

Water will be provided as well as weekly raffles so don’t miss these opportunities to train! Shorter routes will be available on all weekend walks so please let your training walk leader know if you need a shortened route.

Mid-week Walks -- Start at 5:30 p.m.

August is train on your own month! During the first four weeks of the month, walk 3 miles each week. On the 5th week, walk 4 miles.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 6 -- 4 miles
  • Tuesday, Sept. 13 -- 4 miles
  • Tuesday, Sept. 20 -- 4 miles
  • Tuesday, Sept. 27 -- 5 miles
  • Wednesday, Oct. 5 -- 5 miles
  • Tuesday, Oct. 11 -- 4 miles
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18 -- 3 miles

Total Mid-week Mileage -- 45 miles


Weekend Walks

Meet at 7:30 a.m.

  • Saturday, Aug. 6 -- 2 or 4 miles
  • Saturday, Aug. 13 -- 6 miles
  • Saturday, Aug. 20 -- 6 miles
  • Sunday, Aug. 28 -- 6 miles
  • Saturday, Sept. 3 -- 8 miles
  • Sunday, Sept. 11 -- 8 miles
  • Saturday, Sept. 17 -- 8 miles
  • Saturday, Sept. 24 -- 10 miles
  • Sunday, Oct. 2 -- 10 miles
  • Saturday, Oct. 8 -- 10-12 miles
  • Sunday, Oct. 16 -- 8 miles
  • Saturday, Oct. 22 -- Day of Walk!

Total Weekend Mileage -- 90 miles

Directions to Start of Training Walk

All Training Walks begin at the Athens Regional Foundation Office. From Prince Avenue, turn on to King Avenue. Take the fourth driveway to the right (entrance to the Medical Services Building). Take a ticket at the gate. Once you come through the gate, turn left. The Foundation is in the red brick house in the corner of the MSB parking lot. Please bring your parking ticket inside with you and your parking will be validated. Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to walk start time.
