Registration is now open for the 10th Anniversary In Their Shoes Walk on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015.
The In Their Shoes Walk is a 13.1 mile, one-day, charity walk through beautiful Athens recognizing and honoring those diagnosed with cancer. Proceeds benefit local programs and services provided free of charge to cancer patients, caregivers, and their family members through the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support.
Goals of In Their Shoes
Connect With Us
Increase awareness of cancer support services for patients, families and caregivers
Honor and remember friends and family diagnosed with cancer
Increase health and well-being by training and completing the walk
The walk was started by Anne Hansen and Gaylene Ward, close friends who were diagnosed with breast cancer within months of each other. After they completed treatment, they founded the walk to give back to the loving cancer community and the Loran Smith Center.
More than $1.2 million has been raised over the walk’s history. Thank you to all of the donors, walkers and volunteers! We continue to need and appreciate your support.
