Spine Rehabilitation

Back pain is the second most common reason people visit their doctor.

At some point in their lives, 80 percent of Americans experience back pain. Pain can occur in your cervical spine (neck), thoracic spine (upper/middle back), or lumbar spine (low back).

Treatment Program and Goals

At Piedmont Athens Regional Rehabilitation, physical therapists will evaluate your back with a referral from a physician and develop a program to meet your specific needs.

Your therapist will tailor a treatment program for your individual needs. Some treatments include exercise, mobilization and modalities to address pain, flexibility and strengthening.

Very often, goals include learning exercises designed to decrease back pain and increase function and education on a maintenance program to prevent further recurrences. Prevention and maintenance of good back health is key. Good posture and regular aerobic exercise are two of the best ways to help you maintain a healthy spine.
