Volunteers make the difference at Athens Regional. Our volunteers range in age from teenagers to senior citizens and are students, homemakers and retirees, as well as those who have full- or part-time jobs. But they all have one thing in common: They enjoy helping others!
About 600 volunteers from seven groups (the Auxiliary, Red Cross, Teen Volunteers, Junior Volunteers, Mended Hearts, Independent Volunteers and Student Volunteers) devote more than 46,000 hours to ARMC each year.
Our volunteers provide valuable service to more than 50 departments throughout the year. Nursing areas with volunteers include the Ambulatory Treatment Center, Breast Health Center, Cardiac Vascular Center, Diabetes Education, Endoscopy, Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery, Medical Specialties, Midwifery, Mother-Baby Unit, Outpatient Surgery Center, Pediatrics, Pre-Admission Testing, Pre-Op Short Stay, Orthopedics, Oncology and Surgical/Urology.
But that's not all. Other areas offering rewarding volunteer experiences include the ARMC Foundation, Business Services, Chaplains, CPV Diagnostics, Educational Services, Employee Health, Engineering, Gift Shop (Pink Posy), Health Information Management (Medical Records), Imaging, Information Desks, Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, Mail Room, Material Services, Medical Library, Mind Body Institute, Nutritional Services, Patient Access (Registration), Patient Representatives, Patient Transport, Radiation Oncology, Receiving, Rehabilitation, Resource Utilization, Security, Social Work Services, Supply Distribution Services and Well and Wise Readers.
