Your Room

Your room assignment at Athens Regional Medical Center is based upon your admitting diagnosis and the bed availability on the day of your admission. All patients receive private room accommodations and meals are prepared according to doctor's orders.

Valuables and Personal Items

A few personal items -- pajamas, a robe, slippers and toiletries -- are needed while you're with us. Electric appliances like radios, TVs, coffee pots, electric blankets or heating pads are not allowed. You may use hair dryers or razors with the approval of the nursing staff.

Because we cannot be responsible for personal articles left in your room, we urge you to leave valuables at home or with a family member. If you are unable to make arrangements for your valuables, our Public Safety team can put small items such as wallets, checkbooks and jewelry in a safe until you're discharged. Contact the nursing staff for assistance.

Your Meals

Wholesome and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. We make every effort to provide nutritious menu selections prepared according to your doctor's orders.

Patients are served breakfast between 7 and 8:30 a.m., lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and dinner between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Occasionally, your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your test or examination.

Depending on the time of your admission, meal selections may be made for you by our staff. However, you will make your own selections as soon as possible from a menu. If you're on a special diet prescribed by your doctor, you will receive menus tailored to your needs. In this situation, ordering outside food may be hazardous to your health. You are encouraged not to do this. Talk with your nurse if you have questions.


To encourage a quiet healing space, patients may receive calls from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

To make a local call, dial '8' and the number. Long distance calls may be placed collect, with a calling card or billed to a third number by dialing 8, 0, the area code and number.

Family and friends may call your room by dialing 706-475 and your room number (except in Labor and Delivery). When a caller does not know the room number, they can call 706-475-7000, and the Information Desk will transfer the call.

Due to possible interference with medical equipment operation, you may be asked not to use your cellphone in certain areas. Please make every effort to be courteous to those around you when using a cellphone to not disrupt patient care and other visitors.

Flowers and Mail

Flowers will be delivered to your room by area florists during the day. Patients in the Intensive Care Units may not have flowers or balloons in their rooms.

Mail will be delivered to your room Monday through Saturday and forwarded to you after you leave. Your address while at Athens Regional is 1199 Prince Avenue, Athens, GA 30606-2793.

Athens Regional provides free Language Services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As part of our Language Services, Spanish Interpreters are here to provide medical/clinical interpretation services for physicians, ARMC staff and Spanish-speaking guests. ARMC uses the AT&T Language Line when Spanish Interpreters are not available and for hearing impaired and other foreign language interpretation.

To ensure the health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff, smoking is prohibited in all ARMC buildings and on campus.

After you leave the hospital, you might receive a patient satisfaction survey in the mail. Your answers will help Athens Regional Medical Center continue to take excellent care of patients, families and visitors. Please complete the survey and return it at your earliest convenience.
